That Mexican Place

That Mexican Place is a rather new restaurant offering "authentic Mexican cuisine" at reasonable prices. I've ordered carry out (they also have a nice dining area) and have been very pleased - tasty, large portions. In the restaurant, margaritas, wines, and a variety of Mexican and domestic beers are available. That Mexican Place, the only Mexican restaurant on the island, is popular among locals - also a good sign. They started out as "Don Valerio's" but changed the name to reflect how locals were referring to the restaurant. (They don't appear on my Restaurant Listings page yet since that list includes only restaurants that are members of the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce.)
Location: 5030 Chicken City Road (just off Maddox Blvd.)
Telephone: 757-336-0010

Others Offering Carry Out That I'd Recommend

Famous Pizza
A long-time Island favorite with an indoor dining area. Excellent pizza, subs, and gyros. After picking up your order, go right next door (same building) to pick up beer or wine (a great variety) before heading back to your motel or home.

Woody’s Beach BBQ
Wonderful barbecue sandwiches and ribs - no real indoor dining.
Located across the street from Famous Pizza - pick up wine and beer at the shop next to Famous Pizza.
Location: 6700 Maddox Blvd. (just before traffic circle)
Telephone: (They don't list a local 757 number)

Sea Star Gourmet Carryout
Great sandwiches and salads - no indoor dining.
No web site, but here's something from their description on the Restaurant Listings page: "preparing fresh to order sandwiches with exceptional meats, cheeses & vegetables, salads with crisp mixed greens, vegetarian fare with our own hummus & tabouli (vegan too!), delicious pasta and potato salads, hearty soups, fresh baked French baguettes & sweets. Everything is prepared fresh by the OWNERS."
Location: 4121 Main Street
Telephone: 757-336-5442
