| Opinion: | EXCELLENT place to stay. Very clean, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were very nice, beds extremely comfortable. Waterfront view from the private balconies were great...did find balcony chairs a little uncomfortable, needed a pillow. Lovely little garden on site to visit, with a fish pond, and many cute ducks and little fuzzy ducks. Pool was nice, very clean. Grounds very clean. Big thing about this hotel is the peace and quiet, it was fabulous for this reason.... Only drawback we found to this hotel was that there is no microwave or coffee pot in room. They do have a cafe that opens daily at 6:30 am if you want to treck across and get coffee or you can leave a door hanger out the night before to have it delivered, but a coffee pot in the room for me is essential. The cafe which is only open for breakfast did have great staff and wonderful food. All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel and stay in it again. Also while here be sure to visit Woody's for your fried chicken or ribs, it is out by the loop on Maddox before the refuge....terrific food | ||

MOST OF THE ROOMS ARE RECENTLY RENNOVATED AND THE POOL IS HEATED AND GORGEOUS...WITH PLENTY OF PRIVACY. MY HUSBAND HAS STAYED HERE EVERYTIME HE HAS WORK TRAVEL. THIS IS MY FIRST STAY AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. WOULD NOT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. OWNERS OF THE HOTEL HAVE HORSES ON THE PREMISES. GREAT FOR CHILDREN...BIKE RENTAL RIGHT NEXT DOOR.

| Opinion: | Air conditioning ran cool. Don't leave the screen door open or the windows when using the A/C, she'll turn it off at the main switch. Don't ever have a window blind corner pulled away from the window - she'll bang on your door to fix it. Don't put anything smelly in the garbage - she'll complain about that too. Be sure to put all the dishes away and clean the stove - you'll be charged $10 after you leave. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and don't expect a Come Back Y'all. Don't expect a Thank You, have a safe trip home. No, just put the key in the grey box. Yeah, she didn't even say goodbye on the phone either. I WILL NOT be staying here again. What a racket! | ||

My daughter loves the ponies on the premises. The pool is gorgeous with beautiful landscaping. The Refuge is right down the road to the entrance to Assateague and they even rent bikes right next door. We won't stay anywhere else.

| Opinion: | We just made our reservations for the 2006 season. We have come to Chincoteague for many years and very much enjoy our stay here. No, the cottages may not be as fancy as some of the high priced hotels in the town but that is not why we come to Chincoteague. We like to spend time outdoors, enjoying the nature trails and fishing. Snug Harbor's accommodations are perfect for us. They are priced right and are very comfortable and we have everything we need. My wife would not let us stay anywhere else. The cottages are waterfront, we are steps away from crabbing from the pier and the view is fantastic. We are always very comfortable here and are very much looking forward to our trip this year. Can't wait for July. | ||

The condo was somewhat overpriced for the condition it was in but they allowed pets (extra charges apply) and the views from the deck compensated for any short comings in the lodging.

It has a a well equipped kitchen, fireplace, good sound system, numerous porches/decks, and the owners and caretaker could not have been more gracious. It's location on the water (private dock, crab traps, lovely sunrises) and proximity to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge (grazing wild horses, walking trails, abundant waterfowl, miles of deserted beach) add to the specialness of the time and place.

| Opinion: | Our stay at Snug Harbor was not one that I could call the greated accommodations I have ever seen, in fact, I am a pretty modest person, not requiring a lot of frills on vacation. But there were absolutely no frills to Snug Harbor. The villas are tiny to say the least, the bathroom has only a stand up shower, no tub. The sink has no counter top. All the plumbing is visible. There was only one airconditioner that no where near cooled the even tiny room. The kitchen appliances were like the ones my grandmother had when I was a child. The stove top eyes, only two out of 4 worked. The windows were the old crank out windows, and not even half of them would crank out, not a good thing with the airconditioner not cooling the place. No plug in in the bathroom. And probably the scarest thing was the fact that there were no smoke detectors in the place, especially with the poor condition of the stove and the airconditioner running all the time to try to keep it cool. The atmosphere though was very nice. The crabbing excellent. We had a nice time, beautiful view of the lighthouse, beautiful sunrises. Just very disappointed in the room for the price. In my opinion was very overpriced for the quality of the room. By the way, Chincoteague and Assateague Islands are the most beautiful places I have ever seen. You get a very homey feeling in the area, reminded me of the small town I live in here in Southwest VA. I absolutely love the area, plan to visit very often. I hope the town of Chincoteague never changes. | ||

| Opinion: | We rented the 6 person efficiency suite. It was an old trailer tucked behind a group of trees, beside the 4-6 person efficiency suite, which was an old cottage in even worse shape. Clean but not nice, with terrible beds and kind of buggy. Don't believe the exaggerated hype in their ads and web site. The regular rooms are no better. This place was probably okay 30 years ago. The pool was small, which seems to be the style in Chincoteague. We survived the week and had a great time, but the Best Value Inn is best only if you are truly desperate. No one we talked to while we were there said they were pleased with the rooms, and felt cheated once they saw the place. We chose this place because we need a kitchen because of our son's food allergies, and it had a pool. He enjoyed the pool, fortunately. I think I've made my point. | ||

| Opinion: | I went to snug harbor alone because some family members had to back out of our planned vacation at the last minute and I ended up having a family vacation anyway. The atmosphere at snug harbor was so comfortable and inviting that I got to know all the other guests, including a very special family on vacation from New Jersey. By the end of the week, I had new friends for life and a memory of which to date has been my best vacation ever. The Snug Harbor owner and manager, John, strikes the perfect balance between being an excellent host and manager, while quietly letting his guests find what they lost back in the bustle of their city lives. The fishing was among the best i have on the eastern shore as well. Cabins are comfortable and just rustic enough for me to feel like I had finally escaped my urban life for awhile. I can't say you will be as lucky as i was to meet such great people if you go there, but this may be one of those magical places you never forget. I actually saw a woman cry when she left at the end of her stay, there must be something there, would'nt you agree? | ||

| Opinion: | I have been visiting Chincoteague for over 35 years, many times at Anchor Inn. This was absolutely the worst visit I have had. The place has gotten to be very run down. The rooms were dirty, some clothes left behind by previous guests were under the couch, the smoke detectors had no batteries, the fire extinguisher according to the tag hadn't been inspected in over 4 years and to top it off, the drain pipe from the kitchen sink was broken just outside the building and anything that was washed down the sink you got to walk in becaused it pooled in the driveway. That was lovely for the children to ride their bikes in! I would never ever stay there again, the owners are very rude and stuck up and obviously money hungry. What a true disappointment. | ||

This is the motel destination for the traveller who wants a real Chincoteague experience - walking distance to so many places within the Island, too. Unlike the chains that have taken over the waterviews, the Sea Hawk has retained the small-town appeal of Chincoteague in its clean rooms, complete with great amenities - microwave, etc. for convenience. The refrigerator still had the previous occupants leftovers in it! The bathtub did not look very clean and the sheets were ripped. I believe we will stay elsewhere next time we visit. We tried not to let the room put a damper on our stay. I would like to recommend The Village Restaurant. We had a terrific dinner there. Might stay at The Hampton Suites next time. This was not done. Every motel we have ever stayed has had this service. Just not a top notch place to stay. We were disappointed. Probably would not stay here again. I noticed another complaint from someone else about nobody being in the motel office at night. We also found this to be true. You would think someone would be there at only 8:30 at night. Our room was spotless, the mattresses were very comfortable, and the bathroom was immaculately clean. There was a microwave and fridge in the room. Both were large enough to keep all our food items from two ice chest cold. The staff went out of their way to make Easter fun for our young kids. One big complaint! Staff, who were all men, seemed to favor sitting around the outside bar and talking about what they did the evening before. I think they should pay more attention to their guests needs and pay a little more attention to what they talk about in front of guests. Especially women! | Opinion: | I visited Chincoteague over the July 4th weekend and have to say too most of the Chincoteague hotels....your rooms are not worth $150.00-$180.00....we were very lucky to find the Lighthouse Inn.The rooms were only $89.00.The rooms were not fancy but very clean and nice. The hotel is also located right downtown close to everything.I will stay agin.

| Opinion: | Great location: right in the middle of Maddox, which is the road between Assateague and Main St. Staff was very nice. Room was not fancy, but it was clean and very quiet. While not as new or nice as places like Comfort Suites, it is still decent and I'd stay here again. While you're here, don't forget to stop by Mr. Whippy's on Maddox for an ice cream cone. | ||

| Opinion: | If you're undecided between the national chain hotels and B&B's in town and staying further out towards Assateague, save your money and stay at the Driftwood. The newly renovated rooms are of the same quality/caliber as the much more pricey chain hotels in town. Sheets could be nicer (mine felt very rough). Hotel is family owned - if you forgot anything, they are happy to get it for you, from razors to shampoo. Very pleasant staff - very clean rooms. Favorite part of staying there - hotel is quiet since it's not in the middle of touristy part of island, heated pool after icy ocean swim and achy bike ride back hit the spot, and the late evening camped out on the Adirondack chairs under a pine grove on the front lawn overlooking Assateague + lighthouse was awesome. Also, location, location, location - hotel is right across street from bike rental (very reasonable daily rates). Only a 3 mile bike ride on mostly flat ground or hike to beach. The free dinnertime trolley that makes runs through town stops right next door at the Oyster Museum. You could literally park your car and leave it for the weekend. | ||

| Opinion: | Just came across this site and wanted to state my opinion of the place. What they call "villas" are just cabins. Toilet leaked our whole stay. Staff was not helpful,in fact they were pretty rude. Very disappointed with the place. Had heard good things but from people who had stayed a long time ago. Maybe management has changed.Would not recommend Snug Harbor at all. Did not enjoy our stay. | ||

| Opinion: | Do not stay here. Man at desk was very rude, like he couldn't be bothered. Room was a bit dirty, smelled mildewy. Would not recommend at all.Rooms are old, need renovating or at least new furniture. We spent our last night in Chincoteague at The Mariner Hotel...That was very nice! | ||
